📅 New VeriFactu implementation dates:

  • January 1, 2026 : for legal entities that are payers of corporate income tax (Impuesto sobre Sociedades) i.e. SL.

  • July 1, 2026 : for other taxpayers, including self-employed individuals and small businesses under Law 11/2021 on the fight against tax fraud ( Ley 11/2021, de medidas de prevención y lucha contra el fraude fiscal ), i.e. for the autonomous.

This innovation applies to all businesses that use invoicing management systems (SIF), including the restaurant business , cafes and bars.

🔧 What is SIF?

SIF is an abbreviation for "Sistema Informático de Facturación" , meaning "Invoicing Information System" .

In the context of Spanish legislation (specifically Real Decreto 1007/2023 ), SIF is any software or system used by a business to create, register and store invoices.

📌 Basic requirements for SIF according to VeriFactu:

  1. Data immutability: no account can be changed or deleted after creation.

  2. Continuous numbering: all accounts must be formed sequentially, without gaps.

  3. Event logging: the system must keep a log of all actions: creation, changes, cancellations, etc.

  4. Digital signature and hash: each document must have a digital verification of authenticity (similar to blockchain).

  5. Possibility of integration with AEAT: the system must have the function of transferring data to the Agencia Tributaria (Spanish Tax Agency).

To help you prepare, we at FireMenu have put together a step-by-step guide on how to adapt your restaurant to the new legal regulations.

🔎 1. Understand what VeriFactu is

VeriFactu is a new billing control system that requires businesses to:

  • Use certified software for sales accounting.

  • Ensure automatic transmission of invoices to the Agencia Tributaria (AEAT) in real time or with minimal delay.

  • Prevent the modification, deletion or falsification of invoices (anti-fraud requirements).

  • Comply with the format and standard established by Real Decreto 1007/2023 (SIF regulations).

2. Audit your current POS/accounting system

Ask your software vendor:

  • Does the system meet VeriFactu requirements?

  • Is data immutability and event logging ensured?

  • Is it possible to transmit information to AEAT in a specific format?

❗️If the answer is “no,” you should look for a new solution or update the software.

🧩 3. Choose compatible software (e.g. FireMenu)

FireMenu is now fully compliant with VeriFact requirements. Our developers integrate:

  • Automatic generation of VeriFactu files .

  • Identification of each invoice according to AEAT requirements.

  • Digital signature and hashing — to guarantee that the document cannot be altered.

  • Integration with Agencia Tributaria services.

But while VeriFactu is not mandatory, we only connect it at the client's request.

🧾 4. Train your staff

Your cashiers, administrators, and managers should:

  • Understand that all sales are automatically recorded.

  • Avoid manual changes, "draft" accounts, and duplications.

FireMenu includes training materials and support for rapid staff onboarding.

🛡 5. Check legal security

According to Ley 11/2021 , the use of uncertified or “manipulated” software threatens:

  • Fines of up to 50,000 euros for each detected case.

  • Prohibition of further use of such a system.

  • Reputational damage and the risk of fiscal audits.

FireMenu guarantees compliance not only with technical requirements, but also with legal responsibility before tax authorities.

FireMenu is ready to accompany you at every stage of the transition to new standards.
